Are you a person with a few extra pounds? Have you already tried several diets without getting the desired success? Or did you in fact loose weight during the diet, but regained the extra kilos with some ‘extra’ again in a short time, as soon as you stopped the diet? How much frustration have you felt in finding that the pounds of weight persist, despite having suffered from hunger during the diet that advised you to calculate the Kilo Calories (Kcal)?

Ayurveda does not consider the Kcal to make you return to being slim and full of energy, which is a food measure developed after World War II, invented by American food companies to sell their products.

According to Ayurveda the following is important:

a) All the Tastes (Rasa), which all have to be present in every meal;
b) a proper functioning of Agni (digestive fire);
c) a correct combination of foods during meals;
d) to respect the meal times throughout the day.

What does this mean? For Ayurveda it means that in each meal –  breakfast, lunch and dinner – all 6 tastes must be present and, in descending order, carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, minerals and vitamins!
How do you follow these rules? It ‘s easy! The solution is already present in the tradition of the REAL Italian cuisine consisting of mono-dishes of hot soup of seasonal vegetables (exclude tomato, peppers) cooked together with one single cereal (rice, barley, spelt, buckwheat) and with only 1 legume (beans, peas, chickpeas, lentils, grass pea, green soybeans) at a time, with herbs and spices in abundance. The latter have considerable importance because they stimulate the digestive fire for Ayurveda and act as a “starter” of digestion. If you use more spices and herbs you also have the security of the presence of all flavours.
In addition to the fresh herbs and spices as onion, garlic, rosemary, sage, savory, etc., you can use ready for use mixtures such as Appeto Virya®, Trikatu Virya®, Fruit Virya® MasalaMilk Virya® Masala, Indian Masala Tea. Ayurveda recommends that you exclude only one single spice: the chilli pepper, as it disturbs Agni, while all the other spices and herbs are fine.
If you would like to have some practical information on how to cook, we suggest you try a few quick and easy recipes present in Virya® Recipes and Flavours on our website.
If you follow this diet for a certain period of time, eating the necessary amount of soup to feel satisfied, then you will feel more strength in the body and at the same you will loose weight. Try it!
