Circulatory System Suggestions

Anaemia or Pandu Roga

March 10, 2011

Often the exhaustion you perceive during the change of season is due to anaemia that has been established precisely because of this climate shift and / or because of a irregular diet that does not provide a proper amount of iron or vitamins.

Like many people, you may be suffering from anaemia without knowing it, but you perceive the effects as you feel listless, lazy, tired. This can be determined by the insufficient amount of iron present in your body. In fact, the iron enters in the constitution of important structures of the body such as haemoglobin, a blood protein that has the function of carrying oxygen in the tissues, consequently giving energy to the body.

In Ayurveda, anaemia (Pandu Roga) is connected to the assimilation of food in the intestines, and the function of red blood cell production. This is why we suggest taking Triphala Virya® that balances the altered digestive functions and has a toning action on all tissues. To resolve anaemia, for Ayurveda it is also crucial to keep the bowels free and the liver function active. This is why we propose the herbal tea Koshtha Samya Virya®, which harmoniously regulates intestinal peristalsis and Jathara Virya® that rebalances the liver, a very important organ for the smooth assimilation of iron.

In addition, a correct diet is essential to consolidate the results and should be rich in legumes, oily seeds, and vegetables especially the green leafy once like beet, nettle, chicory, spinach, but also broccoli, cabbage. All these foods contain iron. Meat, if you’re not vegetarian, eaten in moderation, can be a good source of iron. According to Ayurveda it is important that all foods are cooked with herbs and spices except chilli pepper, which is very irritating for the gastric mucosa, to foster better digestibility of the food nutrients.
