Ayurvedic herbal tea: a ritual for the well-being of the mind and body

December 5, 2016

Drinking hot water with herbal fragrances has always been part of human life. Over time, however, from a dining and wellness ritual it transformed into an occasion of meeting. Only in recent years we are rediscovering the origins of this ancient tradition.

Ayurveda teaches how few and slow gestures can create a new psycho-physical state of tranquility and well-being: stopping to heat the hot water to pour on the herbs, wait the necessary time to extract the scent and substances from plants in the brew and finally, to sip the herbal tea, are gestures that mark the time to resume self-awareness.

In Ayurvedic preparations the plants are chosen according to their taste (Rasa) and their properties (Guna). The flavours and properties in the same plant, vary depending on the use of the flower instead of the root, the seed instead of the leaf or fruit. Ayurveda has catalogued and differentiated all these aspects, allowing the composition of very effective herbal teas, to favour the mental and physical well-being that we all need.

Our Teriaca® teas are formulated according to the principles of Ayurveda and are composed of Mediterranean plants which are more “synergic” with our body constitution. Herbal teas can be thirst-quenching, remineralizing and rebalancing for the metabolism, for example by helping to digest, to calm the nerves, to cleanse the body, to improve breathing, depending on the medicinal plants used.
