For Ayurveda, the first 42 days after childbirth are very important for new moms to balance their own body- mind-spirit and to establish a new way of relating with their baby carried until recently in her womb. For this “recollection” she needs to rest, to relax, to avoid consuming energy for travel, removals, or excessive meetings with friends and relatives. To have the strength to face the new reality, in addition to an intimate revision of  herself, she could find help in the special herbal tea Dvidashamula Virya® that has an invigorating action on the body and the mind as well as a milk-productive action. If combined with the tablets Shatavari Virya®, it would provide a synergy that would bring additional comfort to the mother-child relationship.

According to Ayurveda the new mother should not be in a hurry to get back to her normal weight, but she could help her muscles to recover their original tone with a regular post-natal massage with medicated oils like Ashu strong Virya® on the abdomen, buttocks, and legs. In addition, breathing exercises that the new mother could do, will help the oxygenation and purification of mind, body and breast milk.

For Ayurveda the new mom should eat healthy and nutritious food, for example: hot milk, ghee, rice, oats, buckwheat, almonds, honey, meat broth, beans (with spices, asafoetida), eggs, vegetables and seasonal fruit (better cooked), delicate aromas, onions and garlic (if already used during pregnancy).

Instead for Ayurveda she should avoid foods that are too acidic, such as tomatoes, chili, yoghurt, citrus juices, and canned foods. Also foods, that are too cold and wet as: cheese, bananas, raw salads, cakes with cream, frozen desserts and ice cream should be avoided.

Ayurveda recommends the new- mom to keep a positive mental and emotional attitude towards the child and support his mood with music, singing, environmental fragrances and uplifting readings.
